Wronged Destiny

Two gods, one representing the moon while the other represented the sun. They had both agreed to create powerful beings, hoping that they would create a utopia of happiness and prosperity together for society. The sun’s creation was a mortal human being with a phoenix-like symbol on their back, with streaks of their hair turning into flames and the rest of their body illuminating to seem flame-like when the phoenix symbol is activated.

Their outfit was made ethereal and lotus-like, with sun-like outlines all over, giving off a calm and respectful presence. Meanwhile the moon’s creation was an immortal being that held an immense amount of power with a white knight-like outfit that had a hood with streaks of gold, and a helmet that was black with gold specks, and was made this way to seem like an angel of guidance.

These creations were given the titles “The Spirit” and “The Wanless” to ensure that they were more than just ordinary beings. As one final act, the gods used their power to create a new world called earth, entrusting that their creations would be the key factor in creating this wonderland they both longed for. The Spirit and The Wanless were sent to this world, soon gaining consciousness after they arrived.

The world was fascinating, the sky glistened like glass, while rivers flowed elegantly like sound waves, it seemed like a majority of it was already furnished by somebody. At first they were clueless with no idea on what their objective was meant to be. They had no way of communicating with each other yet, but they soon discovered that they each contained some type of power that lets them create whatever they wanted just by using their imagination.

The Spirit had an idea and used hand signals to create words to communicate, but to no avail the Wanless couldn’t make out what The Spirit was trying to say. The Wanless took The Spirit’s hands and soon both of their hands started glimmering brightly and exploded, neither of them were hurt but when they opened their eyes, a celestial looking kingdom appeared and its sublimeness had both The Spirit and The Wanless mesmerized. The Spirit and

The Wanless both walked into the castle, and observed every inch and crevice, it was something straight out of a fairytale. It was unlike anything they’ve created before and although they couldn’t understand each other, they knew that this castle is where they would both rule together. Two ordinary souls came into being through the powers of The Spirit and The Wanless, and they knew that they would have be leaders of guidance for humans.

As the population grew so did the leaders, they ruled over society as a duo, always resolving problems with little to no effort. Millions of years have gone by, now both rulers were overwhelmed with requests, but managed to get them done just to make sure society can rely on them. Still keeping their titles they learned languages, which then allowed them to communicate with each other and the people. After a long day of assistance The Wanless said, “I think I wanna go by something else other than The Wanless, it's what I’ve been called ever since we’ve been here and from now on I’ll be called Azrael.” The Spirit listened to The Wanless and after a long moment of silence shot back, “We’ve been called The Spirit and

The Wanless because those our titles as leaders, we can’t just go around changing our names just because we feel like it, we have a mission to fulfill and by erasing our titles we’re abandoning our duties.” The tension in the air was so thick, it felt like the walls were closing in on both of them.  Azrael finally spoke, “Listen Spirit, I know this isn’t ideal but being able to change this, lets me feel like I have some sense of control over myself instead of being some programmed robot, I’ll still fulfill my duties, just let me have this, please.” The Spirit’s gaze softened and took a deep breath and agreed but on one condition, “If you break this deal, you’re changing your name back to The Wanless, and if you're changing your name then so will I,” he continued, “I’ll be called Sirius.” Azrael just walked away, and Sirius took that as an agreement from him.

The next morning Sirius arranged a meeting with the entire population and announced, “Hello folks, this is a special announcement to let all of you guys know that from now on you shall address us as Mr. Sirius and Mr. Azrael, so no need to call us The Spirit or The Wanless anymore!” The crowd murmured wondering if their so called leaders had lost their minds, and soon scattered into their homes. Azrael walked into Sirius’s room and saw him looking outside the window, where all their people stayed locked inside their houses, the streets were dead and children weren’t running around all over the place.

Azrael knew that something was terribly wrong, and got confirmation by looking at Sirius’s face, the man who was always eager was now holding a dead face. Azrael asked, “Sirius, maybe we should take a walk around town and seek some answers as to why the people are acting strange, it will be nice to get some fresh air.” Sirius sighed heavily, “It's no use, I told you we shouldn't have changed our names, now everybody is acting like we’re some foreigners, but it will be worth a shot going outside.”

Azrael and Sirius walked through the empty corridors that were once lively but were now silent as a mouse. They opened the gate doors and right before they started walking, they stood still just observing the houses. Sirius breaks the silence, “If we wanna gain back the trust of the people, we have to start by helping them in every way possible like when we first used to do. “ He started walking towards the town, leaving Azrael behind, just watching his other half walk away. Azrael whispers to himself, “I’m sorry for what I’m about to do Sirius, but it's something that I have to do.” Sirius was determined to bring humanity back to the way it once was no matter the price he’d have to pay.

A few hours passed and Sirius had no luck in fulfilling his goal, and he came back to the front of the castle, but he noticed that the entire building seemed corrupted, almost like someone purposely tried causing destruction. The place that was once lively now was left in ruins and the silence was thick, everything echoed in the halls. Sirius didn’t enjoy the eeriness but he pushed himself to continue, so that he could save the day for society.

He got up to the last floor only to find Azrael standing there silently. Azrael, the once most forgiving person, seemed unrecognizable and Sirius asked, “Azrael, what happened to you and our land?” The knight-like person that Sirius knew that was once called The Wanless was no more. Azrael’s outfit was still knight-like but now it was just purple and black. Azrael finally spoke,

“Sirius, I don't feel any sorrow for those that I've killed, and I can’t be a leader any longer. All of humanity is just greedy, they only want to take advantage of us for our powers.” Sirius quickly spoke back, “That’s not true! We were created to lead society, they just put all their trust onto us to save them!” Azrael irritatedly said, “Just how gullible are you!? Don’t you see that we’re nothing but genies to these people, once we’ve decided to make a decision for ourselves, humanity started doubting us, you didn't get any results from your little adventure did you?!” he continued, “I’m not afraid to spar against you, you’re what I go against now.” Sirius was stunned and had no words to even say after listening to what his “other half” had said. Sirius then finally looked at Azrael, like really looked at him for the first time, his eyes shone no longer, all that was left was his piercing purple eyes. He built up the courage to say,

“I don’t wanna spar against you either, we are what makes society so great, and just because you’re tired doesn’t mean I am either!” Azrael had no empathy for his other half and said, “Sirius, you think you’re some angel, but deep down you know that you’re no better than I am now.” Sirius was now outraged and blurted, “You can’t leave, and you know that. The curse that is bound to our souls won’t ever be able to exist without one another.” Azrael knew that Sirius was right but that wouldn’t stop him from destroying the being that was meant to be alongside him.

Azrael said, “You and your empty promises have always been unrealistic and disappointing. You never truly wanted to save humanity, only yourself. The greed you hold is what we were made to be against, but again you like defying the odds.”

Sirius was boiling to the brim at this point, and he sent an explosive dagger at Azrael. Azrael shot back dagger-like thorns that quickly surrounded Sirius. Azrael gave a cold response, “I left everything in ruins, so that I wouldn’t have to deal with society's impossible demands and constant requests, but you wanted to rule the entire world all by yourself. You never hid those intentions from the start, you enjoy all the praise and gratefulness, because it makes you feel like you’re in control, all powerful.” he continued, “If mortals can turn to the gods when they're powerless, then who do the gods turn to when they have nothing left to give?”
