New Teacher Spotlight - Ms. Degante
Ms. Degante is a new history teacher here at Estancia high school, she teaches classes like AP World History and other related history topics. She is in the history department. This is her first year here at Estancia and was just hired at the start of the school year 25-26. She was hired by Estancia because of her experience and the need for an AP World teacher this year.
This is Ms. Degante’s 11th year teaching but her first year teaching an AP class to students. Originally, she was interested in working here at Estancia due to being part of the Orange Country community being from Santa Ana which is nearby. She said many good things about Estancia in an interview.

“For the most part students at other schools are very shy and timid but not here, they are outgoing and extremely fun to be around which has made my stay even better.”
A sophomore in her AP world history class named JP Lahut has very good things to say about her as a teacher, stating that the class had been made better because of her. In the interview he states,
“The year so far has been amazing with her. Her class is very challenging but the work engages you and she always tries her best to help students understand the material.”
Ms. Degante graduated from the university UCLA with the credentials to become a teacher and help students learn and help students who are shy to become more outgoing.

Ms. Degante shared that she is looking forward to continuing here for a while because of the environment here on campus.
“ Yeah I would like to work here for several more years because I consider this my community and I want to give back since that is what I went to college for.” Also that she talks about how Estancia is very social and extremely respectful to everyone and takes their education for the future very seriously.
An interview that was done with Mr. Gonzalez, her closest coworker that also teaches history states that he has enjoyed spending time with her and wants to continue teaching with her.
“ I appreciate her patience and expertise which has made my job a lot easier and we have been able to create a great connection for the most part.”
He thinks she has been a really great addition to Estancia so far and enjoys spending time with her since she is funny and a really great person to be around. In the interview he also says, “She has been very helpful to me since we have better and different things. We try to help each other the best way we can to make the learning experience better.”
Ms. Degante has been a kind and helpful teacher here at Estancia and is leaving everyone with high hopes that she stays and continues to connect with the students and teachers here.
